Goldfield Access Network/Goldfield Telephone/Goldfield Communications (GAN/GT/GC): Open Internet Disclosures

GAN/GT/GC is committed to providing an open Internet through ethical network practices and transparent data management policies.  This document outlines how our local data network connects to the Internet and the engineering practices we employ to ensure equitable access to all services in compliance with the Federal Communication Commission's Open Internet Order regulations.

Service Offerings

GAN/GT/GC provides DSL and fiber optic services to residential and commercial customers. While GAN/GT/GC provides its network and equipment to ensure that its customers can enjoy the speeds to which they subscribe, Internet speeds generally result from a "best effort" service and are dependent on a number of variables, many of which are outside the control of an Internet Service Provider. Privacy Policies

GAN/GT/GC's network management practices entails monitoring of traffic trends and no information is used by the carrier for non-network management purposes.

GAN/GT/GC reserves the right to limit or block network traffic without prior notice to any account which is suspected to be in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy

Congestion Management

GAN/GT/GC does not implement any congestion management techniques. GAN/GT/GC operates our network to accommodate the necessary traffic requirements. In the event of congestion, all traffic is classified as best effort.  GAN/GT/GC seeks to manage its network to ensure network security and integrity and to reduce or mitigate the effects of congestion on the network.

Application-Specific Behavior:

GAN/GT/GC does not block or otherwise inhibit, favor or rate control lawful protocols of any kind nor any lawful applications or classes of applications as described in our Acceptable Use Policy. However, incoming echo ICMP requests are blocked. GAN/GT/GC blocks these ping requests from outside our network in an effort to reduce the threat of malicious traffic to our customers.

Content Disclosure

As a full service Internet Service Provider, GAN/GT/GC delivers a full suite of Internet-based applications. These include:

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
  • Email

GAN/GT/GC does not discriminate any customer traffic. GAN/GT/GC utilizes the network management techniques that are equal and standard across all user applications. We do not modify our network to make our directly served applications perform better than applications a user would access over the general Internet. For example, GAN/GT/GC does not manipulate our network to perform better for customers accessing GAN/GT/GC email servers versus GAN/GT/GC customers accessing Google's gmail.

The network management practices employed by GAN/GT/GC do not differ between our directly offered applications to those general applications offered over the Internet.

Security Measures:

Some network components have built in security capabilities. Triggering conditions include customer complaints of degraded network performance or malicious traffic notifications from upstream providers. In the event of Denial of Service (DoS), Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, spoofing or other malicious traffic, GAN/GT/GC will implement inbound and outbound traffic filtering and/or blocking on specific source and destination IP addresses. These actions will be performed to ensure reliability and availability of the GAN/GT/GC network. These actions will not be utilized for normal Internet applications and traffic. In the case of any suspicious or malicious network activity, notification and forensic information will be made available to the appropriate law enforcement and network security resources for investigation.
